what to do with a walnut slab #2

Well had drywall to do for the weekend, kind of got behind on the Walnut Project. Last seen, I had a glue up going on…
Wood Hardwood Machine Motor vehicle Table

Jointed a pair of edges to book match them. Used a Jointer plane for that.
Wood Kitchen utensil Gas Automotive exterior Metal

A Stanley #7c works nicely. Got out a few clamps and the glue..
Wood Motor vehicle Gas Engineering Composite material

Two clamps under and a clamp over in-between. A piece of sandpaper was between the clamp and the glue. No stains that way. Let this sit a few days, until I could get back down there….

Removed the clamps today. Got out a plane or two to flatten the glue joint…
Wood Table Automotive exterior Tool Gas

Mainly the surface needed some work, had a "hump" in the middle on the one board….used to anyway. Made a few shavings with the #7c..
Wood Machine Bone Metal Auto part

But, there was an area right along the glue joint, where one side was a bit higher. #7 just glossed over it…..got out the cambered #5c…a few swipes along the joint cured that. Then, to clean up the area a bit…a #4 was run around a bit..

Top was flat on both sides. laid out a few smaller parts. Not enough in the inventory to make a Hope Chest, so…plan B in effect. It will now be a small table, with a shelf. I can also add some curves to the legs. First off, needed to find the lengths and cut a few boards. Circular saw was quick, but not square enough….we have ways to cut square, and get a Cardio Workout, too..

Yeah. Got most of the (now) aprons cut to length, need to rip a couple more,,,,when I recover from the mitrebox.

May need to make one more panel, as a glue up. need the bottom shelf to be a wee bit wider than just 7"....

Skinny aprons under the top. Thicker stretchers at each end to hold the shelf. Now have to lay out a few curves here and there…maybe a week to go on this project? trying to decide on an Edge Treatment for the top…..curves? Ogee? leave the edges "Au Natural"? Will sleep on it, and see what the Single Brain Cell Sketch Up will come up with…...then…maybe a finish of some sort? Stay tuned…..
