« Part 4: One of THEM days.... Part 5 of Another box build series Part 6: Friday's tasks »

Wasn’t much better…but I was getting something done…

Woke up to this….and it got worse as the day puttered along…

Got all the clamps removed…and promptly recycled some….the unclamped end panel made a popping sound when the clamps came off…..Screw I used was too short…..

Replaced this 1-1/8” with a 2” long screw..had to wax the threads…Pulled things back together with a clamp, then added the screw to keep things together. Checked it for square…

I also clamped the front and back panels..back to back, and checked them for square….both checks showed how much I needed to do…

I also sharpened this #5 cutter up..going to need it later….Boss wanted to go to the store about then…I also wanted to go to Lowes…

Weather was going downhill…this was at the entrance to Lowes….was there to buy one item, the Boss bought three..

Bandsaw needed a new light bulb….old one was broke. Runs on 120vac, same as the saw.

Took a nap, while the Boss was in Wall E World….resting up for the shop time coming up….was a LONG day..

Ok, nap over…Installed the light bulb, and turned the saw on..

Hey…I can actually what I am cutting, again! End panel…

Going to take a bit of work, to get this squared up..

We have ways….same with the front & back sammich..

Top edge, both ends…even the feet….finally got them all to match each other…..Even used a drum sander I could chuck into the electric drill….curves were worked over, too….Second panel was then sanded flat, flipped over, and the grooves were made..

I think that will do for the plough plane work….need to reset it a bit..

Took it apart….retract the depth stop ( not needed) and finally got around to rotating the spurs out of the way ( from the dado set up)..that freshly sharpened cutter was then installed..

Had a bit of trouble..fussing to get the tongue centered….took a few tries…and no like sized scrap to test it on…got the end panel clamped to where it won’t move…

Hammer adjusts to improve the fit….still wasn’t quite right…also kept digging in to the surface…Grrrrr, first test fit

Will have to clean things up, later…Tried from both directions…grain was curved downwards in the middle…Second try….flip the panel over..more adjusting, until it was just barely cutting..test fit?

Much better. End panel needed the grooves for the bottom panel extended…at least, I can just saw all the way across…and chisel out the waste…

Will have to do….took all three panels, and a spreader bar of scrap..

Dry fit. Need to get the other end panel done, cut the panel for the bottom, and cobble up a lid….

Stay tuned..
