« Part 3: Frame making, and a lot of grooves needed Part 4 of Maple Frame & Panel Box series Part 5: Ends are made »

Got both panels out of the clamps….needed to bevel the edges, to make them into Raised Panels…

First, they needed trimmed and jointed, so they will fit into the frames….then a jig was made up

So I could bevel the end grain ends first, and check for fit…

Bevel extends about 3/4” back from the edge..once both ends were beveled, the the long grain edges were done..

Once both edges were done, and the frame for the back of the box was ready…glue and clamps…

Checked for square..

And set aside to cure….time to chop a few more mortises, next..

Two for this corner post, and..

Two for the other. Set these aside, and bevel the fancy front panel. Once that was done, clamps and glue again

And set it aside, after checking it for square, too.

Which leaves these to make into corner posts for the end frames…along with the rest of the parts…and maybe a lid?

We’ll see…stay tuned..

Great progress. It’s going to be a great piece when you finish. That panel already looks fantastic.
