Well…the cussing wasn’t quite at Drill Instructor level…..more like Squid level…..I made sure that fan was hauled to the shop, this time…

And set on “HIGH”...goal was to get the case up onto the empty bench. Slide the loose side off the frames. Figures, had to turn the case around, had one frame that wanted to stick….with the frames still sitting there, I could attach the kickers…with a spot of glue and a screw at each end. I then slid each frame out, added the glue into the grooves… and slid the frames back in. Applied glue to the pins on the other end of the frames…then slid the “loose” side back in place….had a hammer handy, just in case…

Grabbed a couple pipe clamps, and clamped the bottom of the case….just enough that I could lid (barely) the mess off the bench and set it down…on about the flattest section of the shop’s floor…and add more clamps..

Now, the kickers do not have to be perfectly centered and square….all they do is keep a drawer from tipping down, when you pull it out. Bottom two kickers are more to support the bottom rail of the face frame..

Needed a couple extra clamps…sides wanted to cup a bit in the middle..

Got this far, case did not rock…joints looked tight…got out some toys….and used the bandsaw. Had 4 corner blocks to make and install….45 degree cuts on the ends. drill a pilot hole, then countersink..

Used the first one as a pattern, made the other three…more screws and glue..

Later, after this mess has set a day or two…I’ll drill a slotted hole into each corner block….so I can attach the top.

Some of those pipe clamps were a bit long…too long to leave sticking out into the shop. Things weighs a ton, too..
Somehow managed to turn the mess around, and stash it out of the way..

Hard to believe..but…I even have a few extra pipe clamps on hand….been buying a bunch at yard sales this year..

Hopefully, I can get some more lumber, do a back for the case, and a face frame….then work on three drawers..need to buy a few knobs for the drawers…and maybe install the top? May run the router around the top’s edge, again.

Stay tuned…
