« Part 2: Mortise work Part 3 of Chest of Pine Drawers series Part 4: Dovetail milling »

Mondays…got to love them….two Doctor visits, about 35 miles apart….the the Boss had a lunch date, then a trip to Wall E World….I had a new set of pills to get, and a box of screws…too hot to sit out in the BLACK van, anyway.

Got home, took the new box of screws to the shop…looked around, found the almost full old box sitting in plain sight…gotta be Gremlins down here. Maybe it is them huge spiders?

I worked for a while, before I remembered the camera..that “Mondays” thing….Got #4 frame assembled, #3 and #4 got screws as well. Clamped all 4 frames together..beltsander and the planes were used to get all edges to almost match each other….the ends were the ones I wanted to match the best….for the next stepss

Clamped to the side of the bench. Shelf sticks out a bit, just enough to rest this mess on…that corded object?

I wanted to add a dovetail bit and the fence to the router, set up to cut dovetails on the ends..

First cut only needed 1/2 of the bit..

Then make a trip down each side..

When I installed those nails and the screws, I had to keep them back from the edge, so the bit would miss..
Reset the fence…

For a second cut…final cut was right down the middle…

Was a tad thin on one of them…..Later today, I can flip this mess over, and do the other ends. Then I need to lay out where these frames will go in the sides, and layout the sockets for the dovetails to slide into. I also need to flatten the panels…as the add-ons were thicker than the panels were….Old #8 will thin that down…

Need to go and buy a couple more 1×2s ans a 1×4….kickers and a face frame. Three 1×8 x 8’ to make three drawers, and some 1/4” Luann Plywood..for drawer bottoms and a case back.

Will see how today goes….stay tuned..

Cool way to make those sliding dovetails.
