« Part 3: top is done, tenons as well Part 4 of From cut-offs to.... series no next part

trying to get this project done…before they start fixing me up….

So…wandered down to the shop Monday evening…I was just going to clean a saw up….got to looking at the project…decided to have a seat for a bit…and chop out the rest of the mortises…one thing led to another…

Spread some glue, added some clamps, checked for square…...added a fifth clamp to pull things into square..

Laid out some blocks…to add to the corners once the glue has dried. The saw?

Craftsman 4” x 22” backsaw….may keep it around as a carcass saw..

Cardio Doctor was seen today….they are going to try and fix me up, to where those AFIB attacks will stop, and lessen the chances of a stroke…..sharp metal objects vs Blood thinners…..may take a vacation from the shop…

Anyway, got home, and tried to finish this little stand up….blocking was added, glued and screwed in place…dowels were added about 1/2 down from the top….top was installed, a router made a cove detail around the edges..

Hmm, camera was still upstairs….was easier to carry the stand upstairs than two trips on the stairs…
PIP:

Boss said it was “Cute!” Ok..

Leg details…May add metal bottoms to the feet….keep rain water away..

Top details….Cove to just dress it up a bit….tried a small planter on it..

Makes the stand look big, doesn’t it?

However, I think this will be the size used..

Waiting on the Boss to decide what flavour she wants to paint it, then set this out on the porch..

Thanks for following along…

Awesome!

I know you will have your orders but it looks super without paint.

Bandit stand still ! it looks like the first Tranquiliser dart missed, ... reloading now!
Thats a very nice plant stand and the finest set of legs I have seen in quite some time, but I dont want to see your urn sitting on top of it later thank you.

I also did notice, ...may take a vacation from the shop… good move!
Take it easy buddy we have lost enough good LJs already.

Feel Better sir,

Good news Dr/s know tons about the heart so you’ll be ok… about the shop what kind of cuts do you normally get? I’m amazed at how much i cut, scrape or nick my hands. I”d ask the doctor there maybe something they can give you to put on small cuts to promote clotting for small cuts. Something like this https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/woundseal-powder-to-stop-bleeding/ID=prod6099456-product

I have family on blood thinners for years now and the only thing they have to do is go off them before any big dentistry and try not to get hit by a car.

Mostly nicks from chisels….the dang things will slice a bit, and not even tell you. Sharp enough that I don’t even feel it, then notice the red spots on the wood. May get a pair of Kevlar gloves, sometime.
