« Part 1: Started up Part 2 of Simple Bedside Table series Part 3: Connecting the legs »

Bedframe is completed, installed, posted….Boss approved…soooo, I can get back to that little table?

Since this thing was still out, I cut the bad sections out of the 1×4s..enough “good” was left..

To make two short and two long blanks….set these out of the way, for now. That 2×10 under them? may have a used for it, on another project…right now it is in the way…clamps came off the top…ran a plane along all four edges..

Which left the faces of the top to do..

Stanley No. 7c to flatten, then..

A stanley No. 4 to clean things up….set the top over on the clothes dryer for now, out of harm’s way.

Needed that fan set on HIGH, and I needed those leg blanks..

Made a mark where the aprons would “stop” at…

And made another down at the “toe”...aiming for a 3/4” square foot…steel straight edge to connect the two points

Normally, when I taper a set of legs, it is 100% hand plane work…too hot for that today, sooo.

Bandsaw to “hog” most of the waste off. then a jack plane and a smooth plane to clean things up..

yes, it is a “Made in England” Stanley..a No. 4 c….set a tad coarser than the other #4….Jack plane removed the worst of the high spots, #4c smoothed it all down..
Rinse, repeat 7 times..

Top is “done”, legs are, too…then Suppertime rolls around…
Stay tuned..was a very busy day…
