Have to start somewhere, right…The Boss wanted a bedframe, to enclose that metal frame thingy the mattress sits on….and the dogs keeping pushing the mattress off of….she also wants a Head Board….that she intends to add a padded fabric to a flat panel…..( and a small table to sit beside the new bed….after this is done…

For once, a “Plan” was drawn out….at least as far as I do such things..

Well, for me. this is a Plan. Needed the measurement for the rails. Side rails, and the head and foot rails…they will get joined together with a sliding dovetail…..and a corner post added outside of the rails at each corner….wanting to be able to disassemble the bed….in case it has to be moved….the headboard assembly will be the only glue up….

I bought some decent looking Pine…four 2×10 x 8’, two 2×4 x 6’, a 1/2” x 2’ x 8’ plywood panel, and two 4×4 x 8’ non-treated pine posts. I also added to the “plan” how high off the floor the rails need to be. And where the head board will go. The two 4×4s will make the two taller headboard posts, and the shorter foot board post….Needed to locate where the 2×4 rails to house the panel will go, and allow for the 2’ width.

Posts had a few spots to be worked around..or just cut out ( firepit supply?)

Layout toys….Marked one post where it lay….got vetoed from making any cuts, though…..
Hauled the post to the shop, but left the other parts sit..

Had a few tools laid out, in the shop…first cut was a bit too long for either mitre box to cut..

Once I got the first cut, to separate the two post sections,,,mitre box and the bandsaw took over….bandsaw to roughly cut the ends, mitre boxes to square the ends…

One pair done..hauled the second 4×4 down to the shop, and repeat..

I moved this one out to where I could sit the longer items on, and make the cuts….trash can was even used…along with some scraps, to support the far end…

Part 1 is complete. Had a lot of fancy cuts to do to all four post parts…

Stay tuned….
