« Part 3: Lid is cut...grooves and such Part 4 of Simple box to hold candy series no next part

At least until the BLO cures. Then the hinges and a latch get installed

Rather a thin fix, but seems to work, also used the same wood to fill in the square holes where the grooves came through,,a look from above?

Maybe a look at the end? Showing how the “patch” looks

And.maybe a “front” view..

Maybe…trying to decide on which face will be the front….

Or maybe this one? I also gave the box a second coat of BLO, the first was just soaking into the wood..

Once the lid was out of the clamps, I trimmed and smoothed the outside of the ends. The insides needed a bit of chisel work, the rebate wasn’t quite deep enough at two corners. Mainly along the front and rear rebates. Lid sits nicely, now. Old Mallet was looking a tad bedraggled from all the work it has done, lately..

Gave it a touch up, while the BLO was handy.

Maybe later today, I can get the hardware installed…maybe tomorrow a coat of varnish? We’ll see

Stay tuned..
