I grew up in a craftsman community of hippies in the mountains of eastern Washington. This gave me a long tradition of working with the hands. I didn't do much with it until much later in life, but I always remembered the adults all being builders and makers. I got into computers (funny eh?) and got married and settled down in Seattle. When we bought our first home it came with a workbench in the garage, which I've been adding tools to ever since.
I have my father in laws old Shopsmith 10-ER (predates SS Mark V by a lot, this model was one of the last few to come off the line before the company changed hands) in my garage, on long term loan. That got me started turning, and that led to turning pens.
My woodworking journey continue as I am fascinated by old hand tool woodworking. We'll see where it goes.
I do have an interest in old (as in Medieval old) woodworking, and history in general.
