Is there such thing as a pen that "paints" on wood? - 9 replies

I am trying to do some lettering on birdhouses and I am finding it difficult to paint letters as thin as I need to for them to fit. Is there such thing as a paint pen or stain pen? Can I use a sharpie and just coat it with a few coats of poly? Any advice or suggestions from the experienced woodworkers on this site would be appreciated.

I'm looking for some carved oak trim to add to an unfinished piece - 4 replies

Does anyone know of a good source to buy carved oak trim? I bought some unfinished oak nightstands and I want to dress them up a little. Or, does anyone else have a suggestion on HOW to dress them up? I thought about a small, delicate vine stenciled up the front. Any other ideas? ThanksBetsy

I’m new to Lumberjocks but it looks like this forum is open to topics other than wood. I am a freelance writer who tries to NEVER write about anything negative. I need good news. Positive stories. Inspirational emails. Tales of your good deeds or the good deeds of others. If you would like to share wild OAKS (Ordinary Acts of Kindness)...

How to get boring insects out of wood - 25 replies

My husband and I made this beautiful bench out of an oak tree that we had to have cut from our property. Every now and then we see piles of dust under it where some boring insects are eating their way out. Does anyone know how we can kill the insects that are INSIDE this wood?
