Yard Art and Crafts

I’m always trying to meet people who are interested in arts and crafts and its really difficult. I did go to a meetup group for woodworkers for awhile, which was pretty cool. A guy had it in his garage and he had every kind of tool you would want to work with.

Anyway, I recently started a facebook group for Florida residents who like to create things for their yards. Since you can garden almost year round in Florida, a lot of people who like to tinker, build things for their yards. I was hoping to attract more members to the group who like to build things out of lumber, but so far most of the members like to do things a little more craftsy, like mosaics, etc. I did have a guy join recently who does welding and who is willing to teach welding classes, so that’s cool.

Anyway, if any of you live in Florida (its for Florida residents only) and want to show off any of the things you have built for your yard or patio, I’d love to have you join.

And if this kind of post isn’t allowed here, I apologize.

Good luck with your group. Sounds like it will be a great learning opportunity. Just a suggestion: I wouldn’t limit the scope for just items built for yards and patios. You could be limiting your group from some very talented people. But that’s just my opinion; that and $4 will get you a small plain coffee at Starbucks.

Thanks. Its really hard to keep a facebook group under control. I just started it and I’ve been getting about 100 new members a week. Its already hard to keep folks on topic. They want to just post things about their gardens instead of yard and garden art. So I need to keep it small so I can keep it focused. It’s really a niche group. More of a neighborhood coffee shop than a Starbucks. Our coffee is free. LOL

Betsy – Please post yard wood projects. There isn’t a lot of that kind of work being shown here. It might get some of us thinking about doing more of that kind of woodwork.

Thanks. I posted the pergola and the reclaimed wood bench. Those are both outdoor wood projects. I only have one other that I built but I’ll post it.
