Harbor Freigth Tree Pruning Tool

Harbor Freigth Tree Pruning Tool

20 days ago by b2rtch | 9 comments »

I had several trees with dead branches that I wanted to cut.Several times at Harbor Freight I looked at the cordless electric chainsaw which at $60.00 after rebate is a good buy but being cheap I decided not not buy it but to buy the manual tool instead.I am very glad I did. It is very well build made not of cheap stuff but heavy steel and the adjustable pole is also steel and lock with a 1/4 turn or so.I used this tool most of the day yesterday and I am very happy with it.I paid around $12.0...

Makita BO3710 Finishing Sander

Makita BO3710 Finishing Sander

90 days ago by b2rtch | 4 comments »

I got this sander just two days ago but I already put quite few hours on it.Like every one else I have multiple sanders. I am doing project for the church and no sander that I already have could have been used to do what I need to do except a 1/4 sheet orbital sander that I rarely use because it does not do a very good job.A 1/2 sheet sander is too big, too heavy and too cumbersome. This sander is 1/3 sheet. For what I have to do it is the perfect size. It perform very well yet it is light a...

The tool I could not do without

The tool I could not do without

90 days ago by b2rtch | 28 comments »

My wife bought me this tool for my birthday probably six years ago. I have used it for demolition and construction to cut copper pipes and wood, to sand where no other sander whould have done the job and for many other things. This tool took me out of a bind countless time. This is a wonderful little detail sander. This morning I used it again to trim pieces of wood where not other tool could have done it. If you do not already have one of this, go buy one. Sometimes they are on sale ...

 Mirka Sanding Disks and Belts

Mirka Sanding Disks and Belts

181 days ago by b2rtch | 15 comments »

Last year when I remolded my kitchen, I bought on Amazon Mirka sanding disks in different grits. I was very satisfied with them. I used to buy all my abrasives from KLINGSPOR but the last time I checked their prices for sanding belts I had a sticker shock. The last sanding belts that I bought for my Ridgid sander, was also on Amazon. They were 100 grit Makita sanding belts. I noticed that they loaded very fast and I am really not happy with them. After a good experience with their sand...

Byrd Tool H7768 Shelix Cutterhead, 8-Inch

Byrd Tool H7768 Shelix Cutterhead, 8-Inch

While I am writing reviews, I would like to add my name to the long list of Byrd Tool ’s satisfied customers. The date on my blog tells me that I installed this head on my 8 inches Powermatic jointer 445 days ago. Of course I do not use this jointer everyday, yet I never had to replace a cutter , even if one has a small chip .Not only this cutter head gives a wonderful finish but in addition it is very quiet, thing that I really enjoy. The 3 HP motor that I installed in this jointer h...

When I rebuilt my Powermatic 8 inches jointer I installed this motor in to replace the 3/4 HP the jointer came with. http://lumberjocks.com/b2rtch/blog/31439 This motor has been working flawlessly since then. For the ridicule price I paid for it (around $100.00), this is an excellent buy.I strongly recommend it.

Incredibly good blades.

Incredibly good blades.

278 days ago by b2rtch | 5 comments »

The set that I bought is not exactly the same than the one on the picture , as I have one carbide tipped blade in my set. I bought this set at HD well over one year ago to use with the Hf reciprocating saw that I review today also. I bought HF reciprocating saw blades in the past and IMO they are pure junk so I decided to buy better blades. I found this set at HD and at first I was hesitant to buy the set because the price was on the high side for me but I finally bought it and today I ...

Incredibly good saw.

Incredibly good saw.

I bought this saw on sale for only $19.99 well over one year ago.I bought it to replace a similar saw ( but not the same ) that I had before and which finally burn up after years of abuse.(I used to to do all my remodeling in my house).Even me, who “love” HF tools,I was hesitant to buy a saw for only $19.99 but after over one year of frequently using it I am delighted with it.I use it for all kind of different projects but mostly to take apart pallets made of pine , poplar and oa...

Momentary Power Foot Switch

Momentary Power Foot Switch

How many time when starting your router or your drill press or other power tool did you wish you had one more hand to grab firmly on the piece you were ready to machine? Often we present a piece of wood on the router just at right place to route it and then we need to let go of it to start the router and then the piece move. Or we hardly can hold one large piece , we do not feel very safe and then we need to let go of one hand to start the router or the drill press. After I refurbished...

Prelimenary review for Buck Bros. Set of 5 Crank Neck Paring Chisels

Prelimenary review for Buck Bros. Set of 5 Crank Neck Paring Chisels

614 days ago by b2rtch | 10 comments »

A few weeks ago I took a class with Chris Gochnour who often writes tool reviews for Fine Woodworking Magazine. He had just bought a set of Buck Bros Crank Neck Paring Chisels and a set of straight paring chisels. Like, I am sure most of you, I know this brand of chisels as a cheap brand from the Home Depot. These chisels are different , they are made by the “real” company which makes chisels and cutting tools since 1864 (http://www.craftsmanstudio.com/html_p/BuckBrosChisels.htm)....
