no previous part Part 1 of Welcome intro, thanks series no next part

Thanks for the fond welcome aborad! I do a fair amount of woodworking and enjoy all the aspects of all sectors. I enjoy carving, turning, ban saw boxes, scroll saw projects. I wish I had more time to devote to all the projects that are on the drawing board and honey do list but my job takes a fair amout of time from my daily life. I will be retireing next year and I can hardly wait. There is just something about being in one’s shop the hurry up world goes away. So thanks again for the WELCOME, I hope I can contribute and learn from all.
Thanks Augie

I have a little bad news for you Augie about all that free time you are looking forward to. As we get older we slow down a lot. It isn’t really apparent until you start planning projects that would normally take a couple of days to finish and you find it’s still not done after a week. I think it takes me a month to do now what I used to whip out in a weekend when I was still working. This might not happen to you, but I wouldn’t bet on it. of course, if you are having fun then it really doesn’t matter. It is great to be retired and not have to plan everything around the job. Being a woodworker I’m sure you will really enjoy the freedom. Unfortunately many folks who retire don’t have any hobbies that keep them physically and mentally active like woodworking can do, and they age very rapidly. That’s it for my rant. Welcome to LJ and I’m looking forward to seeing your projects and I’m sure we can learn a lot from you too.

I agree with Mike….retirement has hidden agenda’s. The honey-do list grows, friends want this or that…but it is better than the rat race. Glad you’re here
