One of my favourite films is the boat builder of Shannon One Design legend Jimmy Fury, from the Hands DVD series.

My faviourite working saws.
All saws are Akins USA with apple handles and breasted tooth lines.
And my 9” Cowel & Chapman 15 TPI dovetail saw.
Bottom is a turn of the 19th century rip saw, Middle is a ship point and top an old AAA always available fine tooth panel saw.

Great video of old Jimmy. We’d hit it off just fine.
Lots of very familiar stuff going on there
.........and a nice collection of saws.

Here is one for the jocks, a mystery piece.
A freind just brought this fine adzeback from the central reigion of France, it is very old with a home made handle at some time, unfortunately it has no visible makers stamp, does anyone have something similar or know who might have used such a tool.
The cutting edge is around five inches across and the rear pin is about an inch square and the blade hasa central ridge in the forging.

A sharpening up day using my trusted old Stearns No.8 saw vice.
My Slack Sellars Golden Guinea ripsaw pictured does a brand new file in one or two sharpenings because the steel is so hard, but she cuts like a hot knife through butter, a great user saw from my fathers old tool kit.

An old grey mare I made a few years ago with a ratchetting table.

Have your say...
