« Part 4: Drawer slides, base and back Part 5 of Dresser / Chainging Station series no next part

Worked for the past couple of days on the dresser. I have it to the point where it is almost ready for finish. Need to do some sanding and final tidying up. Dovetail drawers, sassafras pulls – decided on two pulls and an ash top.

I used ash for the drawers planed down to 1/2” and white oak scraps for the drawer slides. I used a Rockler dovetail jig to do the joinery on the drawers. Next time, I think I will do half blind dovetails directly to the face of the drawer. These drawers have false fronts on them.

The drawers also have a centering rail out of white oak which rides on a white oak slide on the inside of the dresser. I modeled the design off of another dresser I had in house. That dresser used the center rail and nylon slides where I used oak slides on the side of the drawer.

The inside of the carcass also has 1/2” stops to keep the face of the drawers aligned with the face frame. I am planning on installing runners on the top of the drawers to keep them from falling out when opening them.

Gotta make a changing table this fall yet. Nice work.
