Creating a New Design for my Bookcase Project Base

Blog entry by Andy Brownell posted 144 days ago 246 reads 2 times favorited 0 comments Add to Favorites Watch

I have recently completed a new base design for a bookcase project (same project as my last post). I’ve pulled some inspiration from other designs by Thomas Moser, and some basic Asian design influences. The case it very linear and almost boxy in it’s overall design. A sturdy dovetail case called for a base to lighten it up a little.

I’ve come up with this design as my final version for this project. It is a shot of the underside of the bookcase to show the details. The case is 31” wide x 14”deep x 51” tall.

I am happy with this to a point of applying it to other projects such as a nightstand with drawer and shelf all in one large case piece. Does anyone have projects like this where they found one design element from one project they have created and applied it to others? I’m still learning on how to modify overall proportions on this theme, and would love to hear about other folks projects.

Point me to some examples you have here on LumberJocks.com

I also have a little more in depth information and photos posted on my Gorilla Glue Blog entry here...
Feel free to comment there as well.
