I have had a life-long passion for building things. Yankee ingenuity, and a family history of antiques were fostered in my father's basement shop, and then in high school wood class. I learned to appreciate and apply the finer skills of furniture making through a weekend apprenticeship with Jeff Miller (J. Miller Handcrafted Furniture) in Chicago, IL. This eight year experience gave me an understanding of hand and power tools, but more importantly, nuance of design, and the attention to detail and finish needed in fine, hand-made custom furniture. In a world of mass-produced knock-offs and particle board junk, I have made it a personal mission to help his generation appreciate great furniture and eventually craft every piece of furniture in my home.
My part-time freelance writing and woodworking projects, commentary and reviews are featured on Gorilla Glue's Web site.

I cut all of the parts for the bases over the last couple of weeks, mortise and tenoned all of the rails and legs and rails, and assembled the bases. Each table used a custom jig for cutting the tapers on the table saw. My hope is to use these ...
What does a woodworker do while on vacation in South Africa? I recently returned from a trip to South Africa with my wife and in-laws, which included stays in Cape Town, Plettenburg Bay, and Knysna. As a lumber jock, I was excited to learn that...
