About a year ago I started looking into buying a table saw and decided to get a 3hp sawstop. After looking around I saw I could build a CNC machine for around the same money. I decided to go with the cnc machine to join my computer and building things hobbies.

Here is the CNC router table that I built. It has a 48×48 inch cutting area with a 3hp (2.2kw) spindle.
It is built from parts from cncrouterparts and 8020 extruded aluminum. It ran me around $3500 to get running.

Parts List:
4 8020 1530 crossmembers (54”, but i made a mistake and ordered 57”, more later)
2 8020 1530 rails (60”)
1 8020 3060 for gantry (60”)
1 8020 1530 for z
Cnc Router Parts hardware kit
undermount brackets from crp
4 2.5×0.25×60 Predrilled steel rails from crp
gear rack from crp (could not get it from moore gear in the right length)
4 axis 878oz motor kit from Longs Motor 34HST9805-37B2 motor DM860A driver
2.2 kw Spindle from linerbearings2008 on ebay (messaged him for just the spindle)
x200 Hatichi VFD from Drives warehouse
4 conductor 16awg speaker wire from monoprice (for motor wires)
4 pin xlr connectors from mouser for motors

Here is my post on cnczone with some more information.

That is a beauty!
Now we need to see some projects roll off of you’re creation.

I plan on building one myself, in the future. Not sure if it will be the near future or the distant future, but a DIY CNC Router is fated to be in my shop!!!

I’ll need to check out your CNCZone post! That is a GREAT site! Similar to LJs, as the people are soooo knowledgable and willing to help & share!!!

Good luck with your machine!!!

Impressive machine, but what really caught my eye was the ‘Vette!

Have your say...
