Hi Well I had a big bunch of logs to get milled. To make a long story short the guy in my area that mills lumber doesn’t have time to do any this year and I have been looking for some one to do mine for about 3 months. So what happened is me and my dad brought his. So today we started to mill mine. I have never run a mill before so it was a big learning day. Part 2: Been Milling Up Some Of My Logs

Well I have got about 1000 BF milled so far. Mostly Popular and some Hemlock, Today we got into some of my better logs Hard Maple and Cherry. Got some boards of Hard Maple that are 11” wide and 12’ long. But the Cherry is where I have got some nice stuff got boards that are 11 1/2” wide and 8’ long. I did make 1 slab today it is 3 1/4” thick and 11 1/2” wide and 6’ long. Should be able to get 3” from it after planing that is why it is 1/4 thicke...

Part 3: Here Are Some Pictures

Well I remembered the camera today so here are some pictures. This is the mill Here is a picture of the logs that I had this morning This is a picture of the lumber that I have cut so far. I need to sticker it yet. The front pile with the slab on top is my Cherry, Their is 30 boards plus the slab. The other tall pile is the Poplar with some Hard maple along side of it.

Part 4: Milling a nice size Elm log

Hi Well I got all the logs milled. Had 39 total logs and got about 2000 BF of lumber. Of that I have about 600 BF of Hard Maple and about 600 BF of Cherry. The rest is Poplar, White Pine, Elm, Hemlock, and one that I am not sure what it is. My dad thinks it is Ironwood all I know is that it has some real nice fiqure and a little pink hue to it.
