no previous part Part 1 of radial arm saw rehab series Part 2: Fun with rust »

so In adventuring around town yesterday I found a DeWalt 7740 RAS. It was only five houses down. I was amazed to see a thirty dollar price tag. I started it and it ran amazingly quiet. so here it is the new project to add to my shop.
After a small donation to OWW I downloaded a manual and am in the research stage of maybe make a new stand its a bit in the air. But we will see after the breakdown later today.

I just so happen to have that exact same saw. I got it and it was missing an arbor nut. Lo and behold I found that you can still get parts for that saw, somewhere in Tn. I THINK it’s B&D again or a Porter Cable outlet…they changed hands so often I can’t recall. I do know Delta is part of the pact now too.

If the belt under that upper raising knob is good ( it’s cogged and rather brittle) the only other parts I see going bad on mine are the blade brake button ( it freewheels for ever it seems) and the push button switches, I had to use a light switch in the place of the original.

Good find, they were ( are) pretty decent saws.

nice find…I have had a couple chances at a nice radial arm saw
but space is already to tight.
and they are going for small bucks.
