Location: Orangevale, CA

I started serious woodworking when I retired many years ago. I’ve designed and built 3 kitchens, one for each son and one for our home. Our daughter is next in line for a total makeover of her kitchen. I’ve also done some furniture for the house and of course the annual Christmas gifts for each family. When I retired we did a house addition, a large room for my wife to sew quilts and a shop for me. Only problem I gave her too much room so all my equipment has to be on wheels, but it works.

A constant dilemma is that I have too many activities between woodworking, fly fishing, tending a collection of 40 bonsai trees and doing a lot of volunteer work, not to mention snow skiing and an occasional trip. Presently I am on 3 volunteer boards (Chair of one, co-chair of a second and Treasurer of the third). Additionally, I belong to a woodworking club, a woodturning club, a fly fishing club and bonsai club. Whoever said retirement is boring? Anyway, I’m not devoted to the shop and there can be long stints between making sawdust. I just met another Orangevale woodworker who told me about Lumberjocks, so I’ll see if I find time to do an occasional post.

Welcome Art. Well I was wrong. There are abut 65,000 members not 40K. The site is still growing fast and you can see by your reception they are glad to have you join. You can look up John Ormsby or find him on my buddy list. Also check out LJ’s two sister sites Home Refurbers and Garden Tenders at the links at the top left of the home page.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. When I find time to play around at the website I’ll post at least one picture of a project.
