My name is Chuck Bender. I am a professional furniture maker specializing in 17th, 18th and early 19th Century American reproductions. I've been working wood for over 30 years. You can see some examples of my work at my website. I've recently started a woodworking school which you can also learn about at my website. I write occassionally for Popular Woodworking Magazine. I also teach and give woodworking presentations at woodworking shows and woodworking clubs across the country. In October of 2009, I was one of the presenters at Popular Woodworking's Woodworking in America Hand Tools Conference and I've recently released my first instructional DVD.

I hope to learn from being part of the lumberjocks community and, hopefully, help others learn from my years of experience. It looks like I've become a regular fixture around here.

Welcome Chuck. Some very nice hand crafted reproductions of American 17th, 18th and early 19th Century furniture. Looking forward to see more of your projects and comments. Have fun and work safe.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I’m already impressed with how all you LJ’s show your support for one another. For those that checked out my website(s), thanks for looking. I’ll post some shop and project pics very soon. Until then, I’ll just enjoy looking at everyone else’s. I’m looking forward to learning from all the invaluable reasources here. The longer I work wood, the more I realize how little I really know about working wood. There’s always someone out there with a different take on how something should be done or how it should look. Hopefully, I’ll find opportunities to help others find their woodworking path while I’m here. Thanks again for making me feel so welcome.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.
