As a serious hobby, I have a 3 car garage workshop equipped for 4×4 modification and fabrication. All the necessary metal fabrication tools from different kinds of welders to specialty automotive tools.
Wood working wise, still a virgin. Bought a decent router though :) and trying to figure out what do I need to buy/make to start working with wood.
Cheers

Abadr, how about posting some pictures of your shop when you get the opportunity?
I missed the question on where to start. I would agree with Rasta about getting a table saw if you want to get into woodworking. There are some techniques where a table saw would not be needed but, in general, a table saw is the central tool of most wood shops.

I’ll post pictures in about a month when I finish the garage expansion (the 3rd car part) where I’ll be moving all the tools and storage. The original 2 car are will be dedicated to the cars I’m working on… Can’t wait till I’m done with the paint and floor… :)
yes, I pretty much figured that out the necessity of a table saw from this forum and other websites. I’ll go shopping for that soon.

WELCOME!! Start with a table saw. 3 hp if possible. A riving knife really makes them more safe.

Can’t wait for some pictures and I will echo everyone else, start with a good table saw, don’t get cheep on this one or else I guarantee you will regret it and end up buying a better model down the road.
