WOW What a shop I do envey you, I wish woodworking could be my full time job. I have about 20 more years of plumbing before I can full time wood work.We do share the same passion for reading, I go thru withdrawls waiting for a mag to arrive sometimes, and can read a book cover to cover if it has the word wood in it.And there is not enough T.V. shows out there yet we need a 24 hour woodworking show,I think you might fit that bill Jim.I love your work and will look back for more later thanks

Hey there Pig Pen
I usually abbreviate some guys names but I couldn’t say hey PP or Hey Pig. Re my shop another 20 years I might get it figured out. I wish I could be polite an say iI wish I could have been a plumber the last 20 years but… well that’s tough work. I wish I could say i read all the books I get cover to cover but that would not be true. I like to read what i have not done or I’ll put a book mark in a book and find it 6 months later, But some books I’ll read it cover to cover more than once. Thanks for the complements and for being on my Buddie list I’m surprised how many are . I don’t know if I’m worthy with all the great talent here on LJs

Jim – thanks for the welcome. Great website you have there. My son is on here, goes by Shopmonkey. He got me started here, have learned alot already. I really enjoy working in our small shop with my son, I can tell from your website that you enjoy the time with your family also. What a great business you’ve created for yourself. If my son could make a living building furniture, he’d never work a day in his life. He just loves building things. He even has bulit his own sawmilll (check it out on here).

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your kind comments on the platform bed and speakers! Since I’m new here I have an etiquette question for you. When someone leaves a comment about a project and isn’t asking for any specific informatioin in return (like your 2 comments), is it better to respond under the project or under the Home of the original poster? Thanks!

Hey very nice of patron to send a nice piece of rosewood, I look forward to seeing what you can do with it. I love free wood, a friend gave me a couple chunks of plum. The tree finally came down, it had some rotten spots, but also had a volleyball sized burl, I have started turning, but had to give it up for a few days, I put it in a paper bag so it doesn’t dry and crack. It is spectacular with wavy, curling grain, and beautiful pink/purple streaks. unbelievable. it had a rotten spot closer to the trunk, so I cut a slab of and gave that with good crazy color and grain to a guy who carves in flat wood, he too was thrilled. It is fantastic to give and receive, you just never know what you get and it is always a surprise. Post pictures when it is done.
