That time of the year again…anyone receive their 2016 Grizz catalog in the mail yet? Anything significant new or revamped this year? I’m holding out to buy their benchtop drill press, to see if they have a new one this year…looks like the current one has been discounted for a while.

Leave gap or redo base - 13 replies
Need some second opinions here please. I designed and built this mudroom cabinet for our home and the wife had Liked the basics ketchup I did. However it did not I include how it would meet, or in this case not meet the walls. I chose to not meet them to to all the obstructions with the handrail on the left side and wanted a nice balance look...

New Kreg Foreman - 2 replies
Anyone else check out www.kregtool.com and see the new foreman electric pocket hole cutter design? Looks pretty cool to me and at $399.00 is much more reasonable than the $800.00 version. Looking forward to seeing it in person. Not sure if it’s something I’ll pick up as I already have the manual version but for light production us...

Help identifying this wood species - 9 replies
Hi everyone. This weekend I visited my parents in SE Pennsylvania and, while there, I stopped by a local sawmill and purchased some kiln dried lumber. Now, I am certainly not very good at identifying wood species by any means outside of the common domestic walnut, cherry, pine, oaks, and maples. So, I purchased about 100BF of what I thoug...

Festool TS55 REQ Recall? - 1 reply
Called the local Woodcraft today to order a new TS55 REQ and I was told by the owner that they had no REQ’s or the older TS55 saws in stock. Apparently, Festool has recalled all the REQ’s due to a plunge issue and they are on backorder with that particular Woodcraft. Anyone here anything more or know the details?

G0715P Wiring Question - 3 replies
I recently moved into a rental house while I’m stationed in Virginia and the garage at the house only has 15 amp circuits. I have a Grizzly G0715P hybrid table saw that I have a NEMA 5-20 plug on as Grizzly recommends. Question is, being that I do not have 20 amp circuits in the garage and would like to avoid any modifications to the h...

I do a lot of onsite work and try to minimize the amount of tools I have to tote around as well as the amount of different machines in my shop. So I was thinking when using my new Paulk workbench the other day, wouldnt it be nice if I could drop an oscillating spindle sander attached to a standard router insert? Just replace the router with ...

Drill press runout - 8 replies
Hi I scored a Delta 16 1/2” model 17-900 drill press in like new condition today off craigslist for $75.00. I put my dial indicator on it and got runout of about .004 to .005. Is this acceptable for a press? I have my table saw within .001 and thought this might be a bit much? Thanks for any input.

Bosch gts1031 Tablesaw Soft Start Mod? - 2 replies
I currently am using a Gts1031 table saw for my onsite work and was wondering if anyone could lend some ideas on how to add a soft start to the saw? I looked around and heard of people using variable speed controllers from router systems to achieve some sort of slower start up. If possible, wiring one into the switch would be ideal. Can this ...

Spraying Varathane Stain - 1 reply
Hi everyone- I am wrapping up a diagonal shelving project (lots of sf to cover) and was thinking about spraying the stain on. I have an Earlex 5500 I have not used thus far and was thinking about trying my hand at spraying some Varathane stain on using it. This finish will be dark (not sure which color yet) over Red Oak with a Wipe-On Poly ...

New Grizzly Tracksaw - 28 replies
Hi everyone, I was browsing through the new 2013 Grizzly catalog and came across their new tracksaw. For $179.00 plus shipping and tracks, it doesn’t look too bad. Comes with a riving knife, track adjustment, depth stop/gauge, and a 48 tooth blade. Given, it’s not a Festool, it looks like it would be a good saw for the budget...

Delta machinery going out of business? - 81 replies
Hi everyone. I recently went to my local woodcraft and noticed they do not have any Delta machinery in stock. The salesman stated to me that they’ve been having serious issues with Delta providing their orders and have since refused to carry their line anymore. Has anyone else heard of this happening or know what the reason is? The salesm...

Jobsite transportation - 6 replies
Hi everyone, I’m looking for some opinions on some options I am thinking about (or a totally different idea) for transporting tools to and from projects. Dewalt vs Festool Track Saws - 10 replies
Hi everyone, I’m finally ready to purchase a new track saw and am looking for some advice/input. I’m considering the Festool TS55 and the Dewalt corded version. Does anyone have any experience with both of these units? I’ve used the TS55 extensively but, am not convinced it is necessarily THE best for the money. What ...

Jet DC650 Duct Run Length - 2 replies
I have a Jet DC rated at 600 or so CFM and was wondering if anyone has a comparable unit with some longer duct runs? I was going to see if I could place a Y-fitting near the unit and split two 4” runs, one about 12 ft. with 3 Y’s for machines and a separate line running 6 ft. up the ceiling of my shop, over 8ft. then down 8ft. to my...
