Without haste I have started the Queen size Arts and Craft style bed that I promised my wife. I am using the plans from American Furniture Design http://www.americanfurnituredsgn.com/arts_and_crafts.htm and I plan to follow it up with the night stands and dressers. I guess a review of their plans will follow this build in a couple of weeks. Until mine is built here is a picture of the bed from the web site of what it is supposed to look like.
I had purchased the wood for this build back in the fall from a mill Woodsfield Ohio that it breaks my heart to say the owner has retired. Three of the 5/4×13”x8’ quarter sawn white oak boards I purchased is from one tree. They are just beautiful and show so much color and the grain explodes off the board. I hope to use them for the rails on the head and foot board so the grain matches.
I put three hours yesterday into squaring up two sides of the boards and only had problems with one board that was warped and I cut it into three pieces and that seemed to take care of the problem. I had a bunch of cut offs that I have been meaning to square up for small projects and I got those completed as well.
I will probably not have a lot of time to spend in the shop over the next two days so that I can get a training calendar together for next year when my Cub Scout den becomes Webelos. Cheers
