271 posts in 512 days Location: Zanesville Ohio My name is Todd and I retired at 38 from the U.S. Army in 2006 after 20 years of service and went to work for the Federal Government as a civilian until the office that I worked for moved to another state in August of 2011. I married the best woman in the world in 2009 and I am now in the process of building furniture in the Arts and Crafts style for her. This full fills a promise that I made to her and at the same time I can brush up on my skills prior to starting a full time business as a cabinet maker. I have been doing wood working for more than thirty years now. I have taught classes on the subject while in the military at a craft shop located on post as well as doing contracted work from time to time to supplement my income. This new chapter has been very enjoyable for me working for myself doing something that I love cannot be beat. Thanks for the welcome on my profile! Looks like we’ve got more in common than just living in Ohio! I spent about 20 years with the Army; 10 as a service member and 10 as a DA civilian. Now, I’m an AF civilian, working a ways east of you, near Dayton. Just today, I was thinking how nice it would have been to have retired from active duty and taken up woodworking as a second career.
