I only just came across Bob#2’s box joint jig two days ago and just had to hastily knock one together yesterday morning. Not as tidy as Bob’s but I’m delighted with its ease of use and accuracy. I did only one ‘dummy run’ followed by a slight adjustment before I was producing tight joints through two thicknesses of 1” brown oak.
I’ve previously used my Leigh jig for finger joints but the Ryobi router I use with that is showing signs of collet wear so the router table with its 1/2” Makita seemed a better bet just now. As for a router guide bushing, I had nothing suitable, so a short length of 22mm domestic copper water pipe superglued into a Perspex disc serves the purpose. (Well, we Yorkshiremen are well known for our, erm, resourcefulness <grin>)
.
Thank you Bob!

Yeah, Bob’s jig is pretty slick. Nice version, Stewart!

Stewart,
Great job! Love that “resourcefulness!” That really beats waiting for somebody to manufacture a widget for every need. Way to go Yorkshire man!
