Hello, my name's José Yorki and I live in Ciego de Avila, Cuba. I'm sorry by my english, it's not good.

In 2010 I found woodworking and it was magic for me, because become in my complement work, my hobby to distrac me of my real work, and rise my economy.

I studied Telecominication and electronics in Santa Clara Central University, and I love my profecion, but my economy like engineer in my contry it’s bad. That's when I found any thing to add security to my economy and I stumbled with handmade craft, and into this the woodworking.

Into the woodworking I prefer the intarsia.

In my country specifically the tools needed to work the intarsia don't found in the shop and if it found is to a high price. I built my own fret saw, I cut the wood with fret saw, I don't have scrollsaw machine, all my tools was handmade, like fret saw and sanders.
The wood is other history, can't buy in a shop, my neighbor is carpenter and he gift me chunks of wood, always cedar or mahogany, no any other wood.

In this way I work the intarsia, don't easy, but I like and the result it’s not bad.

Welcome To LumberJocks. Enjoy the community. Look forward to seeing your projects. I spent 14 months in your beautiful country in 1966-67 (Guantanamo Naval Base).

Welcome to Lumberjocks Yorki. Your work is beautiful. There are many woodworkers on this website who build their own tools and jigs. Also many who use free wood to build their projects.

Jose, your English is a whole lot better than my Spanish! You do such wonderful work, and with only hand tools. Even more amazing. I forget how fortunate I am. Thank you for reminding me that it is what you do with that which God has provided that makes you rich, not having lots of stuff!
Vaya con Dios, mi amigo!
