Anybody in the Portland-Vancouver area looking for some rare Koa wood from Hawaii?
I have a beautiful slab from Maui, about 57” long by 15” wide by just over 2” thick—almost 12 board feet of this rare and gorgeous wood.
This is a section cut through the base of a branch so it includes some wonderful crotch grain.
One significant check, which still allows two major cuttings—one of about 52”x5”x2,” and one of about 48”x7”x2”
Anyone with a lathe could get a winter’s worth of 2×2 turning blanks.
(I used rubbing alcohol to highlight the grain for the photos)
