Finish Identification - is it oil, shellac, lacquer, or poly/varnish?

I recently repaired a piano bench that had a large flaw in the finish. I wanted to repair it instead of strip and refinish it, but I didn't know what type of finish it was. I made a video about testing finishes to show how I test to identify the finish -

I also made a video to show how to repaired the finish on the piano bench seat -

Here's the before and after of the repair:

This is great -thanks. I have a Deni-Luna table that my better half let a leaky Glade Plug-in on. Melted the finish and the electronic picture frame. Quite a mess. Maybe now I have a hop of fixing rather than stripping.

I really liked your videos. The piano bench repair is definitely a technique that would require practice to gain the confidence needed to perform. It makes a lot of sense and would be great to add to anyone's refinishing arsenal. Thanks for taking the time to video your work.
