I am a amateur wood worker. My job is investigating workplace accidents for the government. Not a very pleasant job, but very interesting. I often say 'my job is always interesting, unfortunately'.
Wood working is a passion I have indulged for quite a while, but lately I have started taking lessons. The lessons serve two functions, stress relief and fast tracking my skills. Sometimes I think the stress relief is the more important of the two.
My son is my joy, and my life.

To put you in the picture, woodworking is not my only reason for travelling. My sister lives in Georgia and I do not like it. She is not only my sister but a good friend and I miss her all the time. The upside of this is the US seems to be my d...
I have just returned from four weeks in the US and had a great time. While I was there I bought some tools and went to a few places. One of those was the Lee Nielsen factory in Maine. Maine is spectacular and worth a trip there for the scenery ...
Huon Pine has an interesting history in Australia. At one time it was used to make the crates for apples to be transported. A native timber of Tasmania (the island bit on the bottom of Australia) it is now highly sought after as a cabinet making...
Well there I was, on the job, and I notice this Cabinet saw sitting in the doorway of this business, right next to the footpath. Had a bit of rust on the cast iron table but otherwise looked alright. So I grabbed a business card and rang them ba...
