Some repair work on an old spindle-back rocker

Some good time spent in the shop on a beautiful day. Recently the wife bought an old rocker from a garage sale that almost literally fell apart in her hands. The price was okay, and she knows a guy who can fix these sort of things. Me. This morning I’m out in my workshop/garage, looking up the things to do, and there, on the list is the rocking chair repair. All the pieces were still sound, and no broken bits on the end. Basically whoever had put it together had used a cheap glue and it came apart in several places. A little drilling to clear the holes for the spindles, a bit of sanding to clear the wood of the cheap gunk, a little glue to keep it all together, some p...
