My website has a whole new look...

Well, I wasn’t happy with the original website, or the web hosting service I was using so I got rid of them both. I subscribed to Yahoo web hosting with Site Builder software and, with many helpful suggestions from you good folks here at LJ, I now have an almost 100% new site.

I am going to get some new pictures to replace some of the ‘just fair’ ones I have, but the original subscription was running out and I wanted to maintain my web presence, so I’ve used some of the old ones for now.

Take a look, and please let me know what you think.

I looked all the way through the whole site, and I even watched the video.

I really like it. I want to buy one for my dad for his birthday in June. You did a nice job. Is the star part of your original branding, or is it something that the website software had available? My question was “Why 3-4 weeks?”... are you making the even the standard sizes per order?

The star was part of the template. I’m not that familiar with Site Builder yet, but it may be possible to alter the HTML code to remove it. I kind of like it, for now at least.
Perhaps I should have said “up to 3-4 weeks” ... I don’t have a large inventory, so if it happens that someone wants a certain style pouch and I don’t have any in stock, I can usually have the shop that does the sewing get one to me in a couple of days. The main reason for that time frame is shipping. I typically used Canada Post expedited parcel, which is about 50% cheaper than the next highest rate. Their website says up to 12 business days from me (eastern Canada) to California, so that’s nearly 3 calendar weeks.
I’ve found, however, they usually get there in less than 2 calendar weeks.
Hope that answers your questions.

Lloyd

I remember your old site and this is much better. You asked for comments and I think that the color of the text would look better in white or a very light grey. Also, I think a different font would be better. I took a design class in college and learned that fonts which are sans serif, like Arial, are easier to read. Reading a lot of NY Times Roman has been shown to be fatiguing. (serifs are the little bits on each letter, the font in the comments is sans serif)

It is a much improved site and looks very nice. I hope you find my suggestions helpful. :-)

Thanks for the comments. I agree on the font- it was done a bit quickly, but my main problem is that I have tried, so far unsuccessfully to remove the bolding. I want it in some of the titles, but when I selected to section of font and tried to unclick the bold icon (it went to it by default), nothing happened. This bolding made the Arial even chunkier than the Times New Roman.
I’ll contact the help desk and see if they can help. In the meantime I may try changing the color font and ask for more feedback.
