This happened to me

A friend of mine stopped by the other day and he we wanted to try out the new raised panel router bit, we were going to try a few light passes before the final pass, the bit is Freud Quadra Bit, nice bit. Well anyways plugged everything after everything was secured, bit was tightened in collet. I then started the router up and all of sudden I heard a noise, went to power off the switch and before you know it the bit had worked itself out of the collet and went flying across the room, bounced on the floor a couple of times, The good news was neither of us got hurt, the bit never touched the fence or the table, just made a small scratch on the inside of the plate. So the next time you tightened those bits down make sure you take a good look.

This was the first time this ever happened to me. It happened so fast, I count my blessings…....

Dust Collection for Router Table

I would like to build my own dust collection system for the underside of my router table. Any suggestions drawings pictures of ones that you have built. Also is it better to have the dust port directly underneath the router or to the back like on Norm Abrams table. Also should I stay with 4” or go smaller. I want to capture as much dust as possible.

I came really close to not purchasing the Sawstop, but in the end I ended up today going down to pick up the new PCS by Sawstop. It was pure safety for me and it was a quality tool. I will have to re-arragne my shop. I would of included a picture but this looks a little more complicated than I thought. Maybe I got the new Tablesaw on my mind. \

Sawstop Trunnion System

I know a lot of you guys out there have the SS. I am the kind of person that would prefer a one piece trunnion system. I noticed that they made a lot of change between the Industrial and the Proffessional
Series in their Cabinet saw line-up. I am looking at both of the diagrams from the manuals and the Industrial appears to that much stronger, more like the Unisaw. Any of your feedback on the trunnin system would help.

Delta New Unisaw #1: Delta New Unisaw

I have been shopping for a top quality saw and I was leaning Sawstop because of the Safety Feature,
but I must say that I did have a chance to look over really well this time the new Unisaw by Delta. I was very impressed with the saw. To begin, they did redeisgn a new mobile base for the which is just as beefy as the
table board. I like the fact the Trunnion System was a single cast iron system, the bevel guage which can be adjusted in the front. dual front cranks, they worked pretty smooth to me. They seemed to really do their homework on the dust collection as well, at least the hose on the back of the dust port fits securly and you don’t have to use any duct tape. I checked out the tool free split guard design, and played around with the riving knive adjustment for thru and non thru cuts, the anti-kickback pawls that can be added or removed. I really liked the blade guard because I think it was a dramatic improvement over the old style. And finally I liked the Marathon Motor. I own some Delta / Dewalt equipment and never had any issues with it. Plus if I choose to purchase this saw. Of course the only thing missing is the brake, if Unisaw had put sometype of a braking system on their saw I bet it would outsell the Sawstop. Again if your thinking of buying a new saw you have to take a look at the new Unisaw.

Tablesaws

As you know I have been shoping and researching tablesaws for some time now. It just so happens that Powermatic has a deal on the PM2000 and I believe the New Unisaw will follow. I talked to a lot of guys and they all agree that the new Unisaw is probably the best table saw out their on the market, except for the fact that there is no braking mechanism to stop the blade. The new Unisaw comes close to the Industrial Sawstop in size. I like the fact that some of the componets are made in the US. Unisaw will be coming out with their promotions soon. So for all you guys that either have a Powermatic, JET, Unisaw would you have purchased the Sawstop instead?

New Unisaw or Sawstop

Ok, I just got back from getting my hands on the new Proffessional Cabinet Tablesaw by the folks from SAWSTOP. I must say that this saw is built like a tank, it is truely amazing saw. I had the opportunity
to look at the new Unisaw as well, another good saw. But if you want safety, it is SAWSTOP all the way.
The T-fence system just glides along the rails with very little effort. I should have one in about a month or less.

Tablesaw #1: New Unisaw or Sawstop

I had a chance to stop in today to the nearest store that carried the New Delta Unisaw. I looked it all over and was really impressed with this new saw. It looks like Delta did their homework on this one. Does anyone own the new Unisaw and if so how do you like it? I know it doesn’t have the brake system on it like the Sawstop. With the sawstop if you change blades, you will have to check the distance between the brake and the blade and then re-adjust it necessary. If I want Safety it will be SAWSTOP, if not it would be the Unisaw. Appreciate any feedback that you might have.
