« Part 4: Feb 2017, Back Porch Ext Part 5 of This Old House: My First Home. series Part 6: March 2017:Mostly Cleanup »

alright i got home Thursday morning and after driving all night wound up sleeping all day. so i already lost a day before i even started. Friday I woke and my middle son and I ran to the lumber store, got back and my son had the Demo on that wall done. We had the boards up by the end of the day. Saturday morning the Ext Stain went on while we cut the cover boards and prepped the old window that i reused. and we were done around 4 we did the first wall in the living room in about an hour and waited till Sunday morning to finish at about 11. again we found ourselves looking for something to do. non of us liked how tall the TV sat so we chose to work on that. It was so high even across the room you were craning your neck up to watch it. So here goes a Series of pics on most of what we did.

Yes it was ugly too we had to cover it.

Every thing off, even the top came off and was adjusted. any excess nails, tacks, and staples were removed.

Parts were trimmed down, cut to shape, or completely replaced with a new piece, as several were broken entirely. We found this on the side of the road a couple months ago, at the time my little TV was on the truck with me and i had no way to stand it up at my rental.

The original Hi-Boy is back together… as a 2 shelf stand, with a few added pieces. Darn still no way to hold up my TV, we will fix that.

We decided to have a little fun with it, but i can see where i want to do a little trimming before it is completely finished so there will be a step 2. I did not show any technicals to this project because when you take a piece like this that is already fairly solid. You work to the piece and trim to fit. most all of it is original pieces. I had to replace one Brace, the Sides and Back, and Filled in four small pieces of trim on the front. The TV Wall was some lumber that was left in the garage but were nice little pieces. the large one is cut off from one of the 1×12 from the Back Porch wall. This is also what I want to Trim to match in Length. Keep the Fun Stagger in the Boards though. :)

In March I have to get some other things done… Like Taxes. and I trade a bit of work with my accountant to get them done for mostly free. this year though I said i would fix her electrical panel for her, so might run into some costs. See you all again after I make it home.
