I've been working at a local millwork shop for about 7 years, most of that time as a moulder guy. We do all custom work and make our own profile knives in-house.
My dad always had (still has) a small woodshop at the house, so I grew up learning to swing a hammer as soon as I could lift one and running some of the power tools as I got older, like the bandsaw and a drill press and a radial arm saw, to name a few.
More recently I've been getting back into the hobby side of woodworking again. I've been trying to get my own shop set up in my garage, in the few moments that I have time. I've managed to do a handful of small turnings, mostly magic wands for my kids and some friends, and I've made a few boxes for Christmas presents. I'm constantly bringing home scrap wood from the shop. I've got quite a collection of wood going now, including walnut, maple (mostly curly, some not), hard and soft varieties, a little bit of cherry, teak, and a few other exotics.
