Location: Wilmington, NC

In 2005, my wife and I renovated a 1930's bungalow. In order to save money, I purchased a book that explained how to build simple kitchen cabinets. I read the book several times and bough the cheapest set of startup tools you can image. I built the kitchen cabinets and my wife loved them.

That was the spark that created the wood bug in me. We have since moved from that home, but I still have one of the cabinet doors in the shop as a reminder of where it all began. I also learned an important lesson about cheap tools ~ buy the best tool you can the first time, or you will buy it later at a greater cost.

Now, in 2012, I am starting my third year of law school. It has been killing me that I have not had the time to make anything in the last two years. But once I am done with school, I have a tremendous list of things to build!
