My attempt at a cutting board

I was given some cherry, and walnut from a nice guy downtown (edged by oak). I am really not happy that I couldn’t get it planed before I was finshed, but I learned some valuable lessons. I used butcher block oil for the finish, and titebond III for the glue. It’s very sturdy, and I can’t wait to start another one.

For the hair dryer and curling iron

My wife is a hair dresser, so I saw one of these (theirs are much better and expensive) when she was cutting my hair. I decided to surprise her and make a quick one for the house, so I did. My parents came here to visit and she showed my mom. Then she wanted one. So I made her one. Then my mother-in-law saw it, and she wanted one…this is hers. It’s so simple.

Thanks for looking.

Cheap wood means lots of splinters, and a bench.

A buddy of mine brought in a pallet to work. He knew I was into woodworking and gave it to me. I cut it into many pieces, mainly out of boredom, then decided to make a bench. I tried to explain it to my wife, so then I drew a picture (attached). I tried to document the steps, but I think you can see it for yourself. So I started at around 11 and finished at 3…my wife works Saturday’s.

You can also see a birdhouse on the table…my oldest son (12) and I built that a few weeks ago.

My wife always sleeps without her rings, and she misplaced her engagement ring once (we found it), so I made a general location for them to go. Plus, I kinda like her.
