Handplane Restoration #24: Stanley 112
This was a craigslist item that showed up yesterday evening. I quickly arranged to head over to the sellers house and pick it up. The Stanley 112 is a scraping plane used for finishing surfaces similar to a card scraper. According to Patrick L...

I was up late posting projects and I saw you commented on them. Thanks and welcome to the club. I haven’t been with the group for very long and I really find them to be a great bunch of people. I hope you enjoy the conversation, information, education, and encouragement.

Hi Wayne,
My name is Jeff and I from SE Wisconsin. I to using hand tools and love learning the old ways of making furniture and other things. I have started a collection of antique hand tools. I don’t look for value as much as what really appeals to me. Oh and nice picture but you may want to shave a little closer next time. HEHEHE Just kidding.
Oh I forgot to tell you. I use to live just south of Modesto in Turlock. Do you know where that is? I spent most of my growing up years in that town. I also worked for the Calif Dept of Forestry just out side of Yosemite. Well, Have a great day.
Jeff

My biggest issue with posting photos is my camera. I need to upgrade to a camera with a better ability to take close-up shots. I did post three turned items I recently finished.

Hi Wayne:
Thanks for the comment…......that’s the 2nd one I had to make…..don’t tell anybody but the first one I was…..big no-no…..”rushing” and was free handing with the router to save set-up time and I caught the end grain and chipped out one end and shot it across my bench. I rationalized by saying OK now I know how to do it….OH….I set up my little router table….worked great.

Thanks for the comments Wayne. She did seem please with the quilt rack, and she wrote me out a check to boot. The money comes in handy. Probably looking at a high electric bill this month. It’s getting hot down here. 90’s today.

I am kind of a non traditional woodworker. I am very lazy!!!!!!!!
I like to design and build precision fixture to assist in woodworking.
A lot of Purist probably will not like what I do!
But I hope some will.

Wayne, You have some great projects I like them all. Do you turn bows or other burl wood? I need to find out if some of the walnut burl I have would be good for turning. What is your mailing address?

Thank you for the technical help as well as contacting Ron for me. Who knew I could find nice people over the Internet. How do I put a picture in my profile? Does the picture have to be the same size as the box, or does the software automatically adjust to fit. I am working off a Mac if it makes a difference. As I told Ron the orchard is in Tehama county Off Jelly’s Ferry Road. I’m in Chico but help out my dad in Dead Bluff.

Thanks for welcoming me to LJ. Your shop looks very comfortable and organized. I am having a hard time organizing mine with two walls that need to be replaced. I am comfortable in it though. I love the peacock.
We had one move into our yard one year from God knows where. We named him Sam. He stayed here til he died, happily eating out of the cat’s dish. We buried him in full plumage.

I’m going to be doing the holiday shop (santa’s work shop) for a few of the local schools in my area ! I’m looking for ideas for fast , easy projects with little cost to make , so I can donate them for the under privileged childeren to give to their parents for the holidays (x-mas & such) . Childern of all walks of life also find joy in giving to their parents and other family members on the holidays , It gives them a sense of pride, and happyness! The school asks that I make sure that it would be something of a non-religious background to all cultures !If anyone has any plans or ideas please send them to me soon december 17th is my deadline. Thank you everyone that took the time to read this !Happy thanks giving!!!!!

Hi Wayne,
I am new to LJ and live in your neck of the woods…Folsom. Do you have any recommendations for buying hardwood both domestic and exotic in the area. Normally go to Hughes Hardwood in Rancho but lately haven’t been that impressed with their selection.
