I ended up changing a bunch of things in the design and it turned out pretty well. The project is entirely maple with two small pieces of wenge to cover up screw holes and end grain. I used chest lid hardware to adjust the angle of the top. It turned out pretty well. I finished it with 1 coat of Bullseye Sealcoat and then two coats of Minwax Paste Finishing Wax. It won the state competition and took it to the national competition but didnt place. I was pretty happy with it.
