Kanna Setup Video

Had a lot of fun producing my video on the setup of my first Japanese plane (‘Kanna’).

It’s tempting to leave the entire process in, and much easier too, but for the sake of viewer sanity I cut out periods of sole and bed scraping, and blade lapping, etc. just leaving enough to show the methods. It still runs to twenty minutes, but hopefully anyone interested will stick with it to see the results!

I can’t figure out how to embed it here on the page, but you can watch it on YouTube at

Would love your comments, and any advice on improving the performance. I was very satisfied with the results, but I know it can be pushed a little further :-)
