Just finished setting up my first Kanna. I like it – why did I wait so long to get one!

I’ve filmed my setup procedure, which was based on various articles and videos online (big credit to fellow LJ Mafe, and his blog post), and will be posting a video to YouTube in the near future.

I found the experience very calming, pretty easy, and quite successful – 0.04mm full width shavings (holding together) against the grain with virtually no tear out. Clearly I can improve on this, and that will be an enjoyable aside over the weeks to come.

Mitch, please post a note when your video is available on YouTube. I am beginning to get into hand tools and need all the guidance I can get. Thanks.

Mitch is a great resource when it come to hand tools.. I watch his videos and Im a power tool guy! On a side note – Art, Im in OKC for the rest of the week for training.. I may not be going to CP Johnsons for the lie-Nielsen show after all, as I don’t think the wife will let me out of the house this weekend since I’ve been gone for the past two weeks.

Congrat.
So happy if it could help you get going.
These planes are like a good whiskey, once we been there…
Good luck on your Japanese adventure.
Best thoughts,
Mads
