Great jointer for a great deal

Great jointer for a great deal

I picked one of these guys up second hand about 6 months ago and haven’t regretted it. It was already assembled, so I can’t speak to that aspect of it. Aside from having a little rust on the bed from sitting in a storage shed, it was in great shape. I’ve used it on a few projects and it’s always done everything I need it to do. I typically do not use a DC with it just because the area in my garage where it’s located is too far away. It does tend to fill up w...

Nice product, with a few gripes

Nice product, with a few gripes

Ordered this from Amazon.com about three months ago. The lift is impressive upon first inspection. The heft and quality of the fit and finish gives you the impression that it’s well built. This was replacing a regular JessEm router plate, so it was brain-dead easy to install – just remove the old plate, install the lift and then level it. This is where I ran into issues with the first lift. There are threaded through holes all the way around the plate, and you thread the supp...

Solid router, good value with lots of nice features

Solid router, good value with lots of nice features

Picked one of these guys up secondhand on Craigslist and am glad I did. This is my fourth router coming after a Hitachi M12V, PC 7518 and a cheapo Craftsman. Of these, this is my go-to router. It has enough power to do everything I’ve ever asked of it, and when using it I get the feel that it was well designed and built. It’s not too heavy, which helps a lot if you’re going to be using a router for an extended period of time. It has an extra long cord which has a power ...

Excellent planer, but get the extended tables

Excellent planer, but get the extended tables

This is my first planer, so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but it works great. All of the controls are easy to use, two speeds (different # of CPI for dimensioning or finishing). I like the fact that the cutter head is connected to the base with 4 risers instead of two like the DW734 and DW733 as well as the Ridgid and Ryobi planers they carry at Lowes and Home Depot. The depth adjustment is extremely easy to use and once I set it, it hasn’t moved once. The top is e...

Great plate and easy to install

Great plate and easy to install

1452 days ago by Vrtigo1 | 4 comments »

Let me start by saying that I bought this plate for my first router table, so I don’t have any frame of reference for comparing it to other products. With that being said, I was impressed with the quality of the plate and the cutout template. The price was right, at about $50 from Amazon. I was a little worried about getting a phenolic plate and the possibility of it warping when I hang my Hitachi M12V from it, but the plate feels very strong and stable. Only time will tell, but I...
