Location: Lincoln,Illlinois

I live in central Illinois where I worked as a diesel tech for about 15yrs for a smaller "mom and pop" trucking company. I now work for Sysco as a delivery man but somehow over the years I've developed the ability and desire to fix about anything I can get my hands on. I loved making and designing better parts for the equiptment I worked on. Like all mechanics my hobbies started out with 4x4's and hotrods but after my first youngster arrived the spare parts money dwindled and some nights just the thought of coming home and picking up a wrench or laying in more grease made that hobby fade real fast. Now I have one of those wonderful "can you build/fix this for me" wives and my grandfather was a great woodworker, and oh man I wish I would have spent a few more hours in the woodshop actually paying attention to him instead of being in my own little world as a kid.... so becoming a woodworker kinda came naturally and I love every minute of it. Plus as a mechanic it gave me an excuse to buy alot more TOOLS! I've got two fantastic/very busy boys that are athletes (basketball, football, track) so I only build a few things a year and usually its from pictures my wife hands me. :) I've built several different projects over the years mostly furniture and smaller Christmas presents but I have never sold anything I made (i.e. hobby) but I have made a few trades. I recently built a model tow truck for a present for my brother from plans I bought and had a blast and after a few more funiture projects I can see alot more of those models filling up the shelves in the house. So any of you model builders out there I will take all the advice I can get.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless

Hi there,
Welcome to LumberJocks… I joined the site myself a few months ago and will give you fair warning, this site is VERY ADDICTIVE, VERY EDUCATIONAL, and VERY FUN…. so sit back, enjoy the ride and learn from the other LJ’s as they are a group of extremely talented people that are also very friendly…

Enjoy your time here on LJ and pass the word to any of your woodworking buddies about us…
