no previous part Part 1 of Oak Wood Pile series no next part

I just got a load of rough-cut red oak from a tree that I had to cut down due to the “Mother in law suite” we are adding to our house. I thought I would write about it from time to time as it progresses from green wood to lumber to furniture. I ended up with about 1400bf of red oak for around $500!

The first thing I want to build will be a desk for my office in the basement in the new addition. I am thinking of some kind of a Mission style Library table like this. I am not sure if I want the posts to stick-up above the table top which seems to be a common feature with mission tables.

Awesome! Did you send to a mill or call someone in with a bandsaw mill?

I called a guy in the area who does bandsaw mill work. He wanted to take them to his place to cut so picked them up with a log truck. He brought them back a few months later all cut and stickered. A lot of work for $500 bucks.
