There is something special about wood turning. It is easy to spend hours at this wood craft while working with the various woodturning tools. This particular project features salt and pepper mills of black walnut with a food-safe finish of Tried and True oil varnish. This finish leaves a soft and warm patina with a nice hand rubbed look and feel. The material on hand in the shop happened to be 3/4” black walnut that was left over from another project. Well it has been a while since my last posting on this project. As promised I will show my way of doing marquetry and carvings. Remember that these are my techniques, and yours may vary. There are a ton of ways of doing things and I’m sure there’s a lot of ways easier then mine. .start by laying out the star you want , must be in EVEN numbers.rip all lumber to same width as many colors you want.crosscut half of all parts.wedge jig , cut 2 triangles . these are rough dimensions as final piece is recut all around.i like to leave my tool proceses live if possible , and lay out triangles to see how many more to make,or if you want to change colors or concentric designs later. ..... .the lines you want to cut for the “flower” is drawn on one piece .each ...

Welcome.Where do I start, at the beginning I suppose, I was born at an …..sorry not that far back!Ok let do this.
