Looking for opinions on the PM 1500 bandsaw..... - 9 replies

....from LJ’s that own one and have some time on the machine. I’m looking to upgrade my BS. I used a PM 1500 last week and it seemed like a decent machine. Not too big but has good HP and decent resew capacity. Looking for opinions from anyone that has used and lived with one for a while since the reviews seem mixed at best.

Need Help- Target Coatings with Cross-Linker - 11 replies

Today I made up some samples using Target Coatings EM6000, EM8000 and EM9300. I have sprayed lots of NC lacquer over the years, but this was my first attempt at shooting with water based products. I ran into an issue that I’m hoping one of the more experienced users of Target products can help me with. My EM8000 and EM9300 samples ca...

I’m finishing up a dining table build with four leaves. The veneer on the leaves is slip matched so there is a specific order that they can go in to look best, so I want to number the leaves. How have you numbered leaves to keep them in order?

Powermatic Model 24 Shaper- Anyone have Experience? - 13 replies

I have an opportunity to purchase a Powermatic model 24 shaper that appears to be in excellent condition. This would be a replacement for my current Craftsman 1/2” spindle shaper which I have hated from day 1- the open top design is not my favorite. The PM24 is one of the smaller shapers- 1/2” & 3/4” interchangable spin...

Jeff at Target recommended EM9300, with cross linker added, as the top coat for a large dining table I’m working on. Anyone have experience with this finish? Looking for feedback on durability and ease of application (spraying).

What are they using as an adhesive in Baltic Birch ply? - 2 replies

What ever they are using to bond Baltic Birch plywood together is tougher than carbide! Last year I made a mortising fixture from BB. I ran one edge through the jointer a few times to true it up. I was surprised to see that the brand new set of HSS knives I put in had a deep ridge at every glue line. Two weeks ago I upgraded to a helical head ...

The resurgence in fine furniture- truth or myth? - 2 replies

A few weeks ago I was reading an article, I don’t recall where or what the topic even was. The one sentence that stood out for me was (to paraphrase) “with the recent resurgence in interest in fine furniture….” So I’m curious to know from those LJ’s that currently work in the trade- are you seeing a resurg...

Domino DF500 or Multi-Router? - 25 replies

My next few projects are going to require a lot of angled, mortised joinery. Too much to cut by hand. I’m contemplating either the JDS multi-router or a Domino DF 500. Neither is inexpensive, so I’m looking for some opinions from those that have used either (or both). What are the pros and cons? Thanks!

I am selling my Craftsman 12-1/2” thickness planer. I bought this planer used about 15 years ago and it has served me well. I recently upgraded to a DeWalt so I no longer need it. FS: 2 stage dust collector & remote - 1 reply

For sale is my Dayton 2 stage dust collector. Works perfectly and in very good condition. This is a 1 hp unit that sits on top of a 55 gal. drum. I replaced this unit a few months ago because I needed higher capacity to service my new drum sander and table saw, so I no longer need it. I just replaced the filter bag about 6 months ago with a ...

CNC Services in the Eastern PA Area? - 4 replies

I’m getting ready to start construction on an Elliptical dining table. Does anyone offer or know where I can get some parts cut on a CNC? The finished size of my table is 65” x 75” with a split down the middle for leaves, so I need someone with the capacity to CNC a part 60” x 30” to handle each half of the table....
