Started working life as an apprentice in Boat building concurrently followed a course in Part time Architecture, 4 years.
Worked for large woodworking companies for next 3 years.
Got back to Yachts and boat Building, Started off in partnership - woodworking Company - "Touchwood Enterprise". Later,
Stared off on my own -"The Workshop". Did quite well till Civil war broke out.
Went to Oman - Built the largest boat 75 ft (any vessel larger than 75ft was considered a ship) I made it a foot shorter. (120Tons) shall send pictures soon. (4 years.)
Went to Maldives, as manager, of Boat yard. 1 year. (Lousy food). Back home started "The Yard" making my own Bass boat, large Plug for Government outfit (Not paid in full yet)
Made 15 ft Model - last project. Meanwhile I sail, go angling, Clay pigeon and silhouette shooting.
At present looking out for a partner or collaborator to export wood based items
I hope I could teach boat-building and woodwork before too long, I've got to part with everything I have learnt, before it's all lost in this part of the world.

Welcome to LJ’s….your work is extraordinary….
There are all schools of artistsans here…in various disciplines…from all over the world. I’m not sure who is involved in your area…but there are always excellent tips, techniques and discussions to explore…and some of the work here is extremely high caliber…
I would certainly enjoy seeing and hearing about how you make such intriguing models….

Thank you guys, I feel so much at home with you lot, we seem to be talking the same language, always an encouraging comment, always knowing what we crave for – peace and fulfilment. money is needed but not to die for. Wish all you guys can make it to my place in Sri Lanka. Humble but liveable,You’d love the sun, sea and people. You wouldn’t believe the amount of types of timber we have here. -Ebony, Calamander, Teak Mahogany, you name it – Exotic, aromatic, flexible, soft, hard, white, yellow, red, nothing less. A lumber-jock’s dream , cheep and plentiful too.
You got a known bloke in Sri Lanka now, Just get here.
Cheers,
Tuanie

Welcome to Lumberjocks fellow Mariner. Yours sounds like a most interesting life and work. I look forward to benefiting from your unique perspectives on woodworking.
I was blessed to visit Sri Lanka in 1985 aboard the USS Sierra AD-18. It is a magical place of which I have many found memories.
